Stagg (formerly Stagg Jr until 2022) is Buffalo Trace’s annual batch cask-strength expression — the same uncut, unfiltered barrel-strength philosophy as the BTAC George T. Stagg, in broader, more accessible batches. Each batch is a unique barrel selection at its natural proof; Batch 23B came in at 127.8 proof and was generally noted as a spicier counterpoint to the fruit-forward 23A.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Caramel and toffee with vanilla, stone fruit, and cherry, plus baking spice, anise, and a touch of leather and dark fruit.
• Palate: Caramel and toffee laced with spice — cinnamon, clove, and pepper — alongside cherry, chocolate, and seasoned oak.
• Finish: Baking spice, cherry, and barrel char; somewhat shorter and spicier than 23A.
