Stagg (formerly Stagg Jr until 2022) is Buffalo Trace’s annual batch cask-strength expression — the same uncut, unfiltered barrel-strength philosophy as the BTAC George T. Stagg, in broader, more accessible batches. Each batch is a unique barrel selection at its natural proof; Batch 23A came in at 130.2 proof, and was widely noted by reviewers as an especially fruit-forward, approachable release.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Strikingly fruit-forward — stewed and black cherry, grape, and fig over caramel, toffee, and butterscotch, with toasted oak and a touch of leather. Notably restrained heat for the proof.
• Palate: Cherry cola and dark fruit meet baking spice and clove, with caramel and soft vanilla against spicy oak and a hint of leather.
